About

The Mission:

TipClique was conceived and born out of frustration with the sheer number of tutorial sites available on the ‘net that seemed to focus on quantity rather than quality. The issue with quality is that it is purely a subjective thing, so that’s where you come in. We believe that making the TipClique’s content a democratic process will result in better quality for all users. So if you see a tutorial you like, be sure to “Clique It” and it will become more popular. If you don’t like a tutorial, just ignore it and if the rest of the community does the same, it will eventually disappear.

How it Works:

The first thing you will want to do is register an account. We promise we will never sell your personal information. We abhor spammers as much as you do. Once your account is registered and you have logged in, you will have the ability to click on the tutorials you like and they will be saved in your personal profile. You can also add other members to your friend’s list so you will always know the latest tutorials they have clicked.

In addition, there is a popularity system built into TipClique that not only determines the placement of tutorials, but also applies to the member accounts. The factors in determining popularity are:

1. Tutorial Submissions
2. Number of People Who Have Added You to Their Friend’s List
3. Popularity of the Tutorials You Have Submitted
4. Popularity of the Tutorials You Have Clicked

The great part about the popularity feature is that you will be able to determine who is a quality contributor and be more likely to want to add them to your friend’s list. People on your friend’s list will show the latest tutorials they have clicked so you will be able to determine quality tutorials more easily.

Future Plans:

We plan on adding a number of new features to TipClique in the coming months. We want to provide a means for tutorial authors without a web presence to be able to contribute their own tutorials to the site. Eventually we are going to hold contests for original contributions and provide winners with prizes such as Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.

Some of the other noteworthy future plans include, RSS feeds for friends, some AJAX to improve useability, and much more. It is important to us that we serve your needs, so please let us know how we can do that by providing us feedback here.
