This Paint Shop Pro tutorial will show you how to create the illusion of one photo within another photo. This is a very interesting way to draw attention to an area of a photo.
I don’t have PSP 11, but I know that PSP 10 is different than the version that was used for this tutorial, and I can point out the differences I noticed. Step 7 of the tutorial pressing ctrl + 1 doesn’t seem to select the background layer in the layers palette so I just selected it with the mouse. Also step 7 says to select the blur filter from the menu at (Effects > Blur > Blur). In PSP 10 it is under (Adjust > Blur > Blur). The tutorial also refers to the sharpen filter from (Effects > Sharpen > Sharpen), but that has also been moved in PSP 10 to (Adjust > Sharpen > Sharpen). If I had PSP 11 I could probably give you a more definitive solution, but I hope this is enough to help you get it to work.
I was having trouble with moving the white filler box. I use the rectangle tool instead of the selection tool. I finally got it to all work!! It’s a cool photo effect once my “lightbulb” came on. One work of advice to anyone trying this with children… wait till they are asleep!!
Good that you figured it out, not much beats the “lightbulb” phenomenon. I would imagine children running around would make just about anything more difficult.
I wish I could help more with this tutorial, but since I did not write it and I don’t use PSP I don’t really have anything I can add to make it easier to understand. If there is something specific you need help with perhaps I can offer some incite.
I tried this with PSP Photo 11. I can’t get it to work. Can you offer any advice?
